Norske Skog is the world leading producer of newsprint and magazine paper, with 18 paper mills around the world. It counts local presence and knowledge and global strength as it's distinguishing factor from other paper companies. The world market for newsprint and magazine paper is about 60 million tonnes, and the group has about 13 per cent and 8 per cent of these segments respectively. The groups operating revenue in 2005 was approximately NOK 26 billion. All operations at Norske Skog are based on three core values: openness, honesty and cooperation.

Norske Skog Australasia (NSA) encompasses New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific region.  In 2005 NSA decided to increase its investment in the core values of openness, honesty and cooperation by upgrading the long-standing 'customer intimacy' applications to be web-enabled.  This existing system shared product information between NSA and the News Paper printers who are its primary customers.  Data concerning stock, stock shipments, performance quality, etc were relayed between NSA and the print companies via a distributed application.  To remove the time-lag and to introduce additional features, this became a central web system.  Additional features included automated order replenishment, product quality, performance analysis, grouped reporting, and improved customer information.

To handle the thousands of tasks involved in development, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, and installation NSA and its solution provider, SCL, used EziExpert.  This allowed both parties to enter information on various tasks, update that information, and monitor progress.  The 15 month project came in on time and on budget.  EziExpert continues to be used to track additional enhancements and support issues from request through quote acceptance to development, SIT, UAT, and implementation.
